Thursday (9/7/06) 5:24pm - ... wherein we all learn an important lesson about using hangingfire as a beta-reader.

My LOST spec made it to the second round!  It didn't make it any further (to the semifinals or the finals), but this is still pretty cool.

There were a total of 500 teleplay entrants, about 60 of which made it to the second round.  Those were then winnowed down to the semifinalists and the finalists -- last year, there were a total of 13 semifinalists, and I assume we have similar numbers this year.

From the form letter:  "The high level of talent exhibited by the entrants this year was truly remarkable.  Our readers were impressed with the overall quality of work and returned many positive evaluations, making the judging process extremely challenging."  I'm pretty sure they didn't say that on the feature-length-screenplay-contest rejection letters -- I take it to mean that the teleplay contest was especially brutal this year.

In any case, I did better than 88% of the rest of them!  Heck, I might've been in the top 20!  How cool is that?

Well, it helps that I was beta-reading something that was actually, y'know, good. ^_^

Congratulations!
