Between the Shakespeare show, dancing, and being sick, there's been precious little time to record lately. But now I think I'm back in the proverbial saddle.
Again, for people who are new to the blog, occasionally I'll play a song I like on my old acoustic, record it on my dinky recording setup, and post it here. You can see earlier entries here, or subscribe to these as a podcast (click here if you use iTunes).
There are a few more 80s songs in the hopper; this is the first of them:
#37. Men at Work - Overkill
I think I wound up learning this one after Brian Ibbott mentioned it a few times on Coverville as far and away his favorite Men at Work song. I poked around on youtube and found Colin Hay singing an acoustic version of the song on Scrubs and realized, hey, that song works very nicely on an acoustic.
So I learned how to play it. I wound up with something far different from the original, but fairly close to Mr. Hay's own acoustic version. Maybe mine's a little nervier, but that's about it. *shrug* Still, I'm content with how it turned out -- I like my little solo, and my usual accelerando problem isn't too bad here.
As per always, youtube comes through with the original. And here's the acoustic version from Scrubs.
