Wednesday (2/18/09) 3:18pm - ... wherein It's Wednesday.

*ho hum*

This week was a carbon-copy of last week.  It's probably a carbon copy of next week as well.

A lot of little things went well.  The first session of the TV-writing class was pleasant enough.  I saw a good movie, a good play, and a good improv show.[1]  I posted a song and a script.[2]

Apart from that, things were 'meh'.  I went dancing a few times, but that was pretty much a waste of time.  I tried going to the latest improv mixer, but only a smattering of people showed up.  When I was at home, I just ran dull little errands.  Laundry.  Housecleaning.  Groceries.  Haircut.  Ordered a rice cooker.  Sold stuff on ebay.  Uploaded 1,300 photos to flickr.  Dull, dull, dull.

The coming week looks okay.  Tonight I hole up at home to write my next Sketchwar entry.[2]  There are a couple of screenwriter meetings, and those are always nice.  I could go to the Fed tomorrow if I'm in a stove-touchy sort of mood.  Other than that?  Bupkus.  Maybe I'll drag myself out to Micetro; maybe I'll finally see Coraline in 3D; odds are I'll just stay home and cook hummus or something.

The Utterly-Useless Fact of the Week:
The TV-show title "MacGyver" has insinuated its way into several languages.  In Korean, Swiss Army knives are called "Maekgaibeo kal," and the Malay phrase for "pocket knife" is "pisau MacGyver".  In Norway and parts of Finland, duct tape is sometimes called "MacGyver tape."  (Source:  the MacGyver wiki.)

_________
[1] I also dropped by the weekly LOST showing at the Drafthouse, which was fun; these showings have created a friendly little community of local LOSTies.
[2] Yeah, it's yet another utterly-unproducible trifle, but it's nice to write *something*.

Okay, I'll bite.

You keep describing weeks were you work, pursue your various artist pursuits, and generally take care of business as a functional adult as "dull". The connotation of 'dull' sends the strong message that you are dissatisfied. So then I wonder...what do you want your weeks to look like? Are you really unhappy or just self-deprecating for the sake of a livejournal audience?

Keep in mind that my life consists of working, working out, walking the dog, doing chores, and (on a good day) having enough energy to make a few comments on Facebook and pound out a few pages of narrative for my latest writing project (which is, most of the time, a fanfic).

Oh! And occasionally having a social outing, like going to see Coraline in 3-D with my friend Peter. Right? Rrrright?

~ true ~

So then I wonder... what do you want your weeks to look like?

That, Ms. thefairyrebel, is a question I haven't given nearly enough consideration.  I know I'd like to produce larger-scale scripted work than what I'm doing right now (meow meow fun with narrative meow meow sense of accomplishment meow), but beyond that my imagination is vague.  I should be able to compose a better answer within a week or so.

Are you really unhappy [...]

To be honest, 'frustrated' might be a better word.  It's not that any of these day-to-day activities are bad, it's just that after (*mental calculation*) nine years, the repetition is making me a bit head-desk-y.

[...] or just self-deprecating for the sake of a livejournal audience?

~ chortle ~

I'm not consciously aware of doing that, but I'd be a fool to say that I'm *not* doing it.

If I had to guess, I'd say that my posts do veer negative because I seem to be constitutionally incapable of telling people verbally that I'm having a crappy day.  Perhaps bottled-up negativity gets dumped on the blog.

Oh! And occasionally having a social outing, like going to see Coraline in 3-D with my friend Peter. Right? Rrrright?

w00t!  Still sorting out when I want to see it.  Sunday night, p'r'aps?

Alas, I am attending an all-gal Oscar's party on Sunday....I don't have plans for next week, tho. Can you handle a week night?

Bah!  Somehow forgot about the Oscars.  Eh, weeknights are difficult for me.  I'll probably try to catch the film next weekend, assuming it's still showing then....
