Thursday (2/4/10) 12:59pm - ... wherein Spanish has to wait for the cable guy between 8am and 7pm.

Welcome to this week's installment of "Spanish for Everyday Situations".

This week's situation:  "You're working from home today!"

Ah, hello, window-that-actually-opens.  Let's hang out together, you and I.

Ah, hola, la ventana que se abre.  Vamos a pasar el rato juntos, tú y yo.

The number of conversations about golf I have had today has dropped by 100%.  This is definitely a win.

There is no software-design situation so dire it can't be ameliorated by the presence of a fluffy cat.

The house rule is "fix a bug, do a shot."

Today's work commute got slowed down 20% by a small pile of laundry near the bedroom door.

If I did this all the time, I might become introverted and eccentric, as opposed to the dapper and relatable man-about-town I am today.

I'm not sure which concerns me more:  that I forgot to tell anybody I'm working from home, or that nobody's noticed I'm gone.

Today, I goofed off twice as much and also got twice as much work done.  How is this possible?

I think of your "Spanish for everyday situations" often. Like the situations that arise when I loose my huge keychain with my id card wallet in one of several buildings in which work... and I need to ask the janitors if they have seen them. ...or I need to explain that I cannot leave the building I am currently in to go look for them in another building because I will not be able to get back in to the building I am currently in. The scenarios continue, and they're kind of funny. But, they also make me want to cry.
