My latest formspring answer:
Peter, what kind of music do you listen to? [11/27/10, by misshalyn]
My MySpace page lists a pretty good summary:
Old-school singer/songwriter stuff (Josh Rouse, Pernice Bros., etc.), Paisley Underground (Jellyfish et alia) and other psychedelia (Apples in Stereo, Elf Power, usw.), jangly Scottish pop bands (Trashcan Sinatras, Teenage Fanclub, and so on), 60s/70s soul (Stevie, Marvin, Sam Cooke, although I'm far, far from an expert on the genre). Lately, I've particularly enjoyed Crooked Fingers and The Hidden Cameras. (Also, I have to include Sunday in the Park with George somewhere, so I might as well shoehorn it into this section.)
I would sum it up as "innocuous pop music". I mostly go for carefully-constructed happy music with sad lyrics. I don't keep up with music nearly as well as... well, anybody else. Sign of getting older, perhaps -- or I'm just listening to podcasts and audiobooks too much. (More on that here.)
Also, that Cee Lo song is awesome.
