This might be of interest to anybody who's an admin for a facebook page. It's an email I sent to my musical troupe about how to post to your facebook page (and its events) under your *own* name rather than the page's.
Hey guys --
Looking at this somewhat-schizophrenic facebook thread:
... it occurred to me that some of you might be curious about how to post updates/comments to the Dancy Street facebook page (or any Dancy Street event pages) as *yourself* rather than as The Dancy Street D'Orchestra.
This is how you do it:
1. Go to the Dancy Street page. (http://www.facebook.com/DancyStreet)
2. Click the "Edit Page" button at the top right.
3. Click the "Your Settings" item on the left menu.
4. Next to "Posting Preferences", un-check "Always comment and post on your page as The Dancy Street D'Orchestra even when using Facebook as <your name here>."
Now, if you post an update or a comment to the Dancy Street page, it will come up under *your own name*, and not "The Dancy Street D'Orchestra".
Logical question: "But Peter, what if I want to post an update or comment as Dancy Street?"
If you go back to the Dancy Street facebook page, you'll see a link that says either "Use Facebook as The Dancy Street D'Orchestra" or "Use Facebook as <your name here>". You click that link to switch back and forth between "posting as yourself" and "posting as Dancy Street".
In fact, this will let you roam free through all of facebook as Dancy Street. Have fun!
