Day 18: A song that you wish you heard on the radio.
Cotton Mather, "She's Only Cool"
One day, a librarian from Austin went into his backyard with a single microphone and recorded one of the best power-pop albums of the 90s. (I wonder if the Austin Public Library still has their signed copy of Kon-Tiki in circulation.) And it never broke big in the US, because (1) power pop is not a popular genre, and (2) god hates us.
Side note: apparently Rob Thomas is a fan. Their track "Lily Dreams On" figures prominently in the season-one finale of Veronica Mars, and one of the last episodes of the show features Paul Rudd as a washed-up rock musician whose songs are all Cotton Mather tracks.
